A few years later over 30,000 miners arrived hoping to find their own Eden in a rich gold strike setting the stage for the growth of this tiny settlement to the vibrant, exciting city that Victoria is today. Over 140 archival photographs, accompanied by an informative, easy to read text, make this book a compelling visual keepsake for visitors and residents alike.
About the Author
Peter Grant is also the author of numerous articles on Victoria and British Columbia, including a guide to the BC parliament buildings. His writing has appeared in the Canadian Encyclopedia 2nd edition, as well as in periodicals such as Beautiful British Columbia, Western Living, Monday, The Vancouver Sun, and Calgary. His special interests include forest conservation, Northwest Coast prehistory and history, and the geography and natural history of Vancouver Island and British Columbia. He lives in Victoria with his wife Paula and his daughter Molly.
