This volume features Frazee's "Death Rides this Trail"--After bringing his family west to homestead, Jake Breslin is killed in a saloon brawl, leaving his 16-year-old son Dirk, Dirk's brothers and sisters and their mother decide to meet the challenge head-on; Grey's "Yaqui"--the extraordinary story of one Yaqui Indian during the time in Mexico when the Yaqui's were being hunted, killed, and enslaved; and Flynn's "Back Trail"--Tom Buckner returns to the town of Luna only to realize that the love of his life is not the puzzle he had always believed she was.

From AudioFile:
These six stories describe the West of popular legend--where the good guys are bowlegged knights, the heroines virtuous and beautiful, the grammar fractured, and the Colt .45 the final arbiter of disputes. Mythifiers Max Brand, Ernest Haycox, Ray Hogan, Louis L'Amour and Luke Short are read by solo actors or small casts with varying degrees of competence, none below par and some pretty fine. Sound quality is pristine. Terry Ford does a particularly nice job with Brand's humorous "Taming of Red Thunder." Appreciative listeners must wait to the end of the last side to discover the narrators' identities. The publisher lists them nowhere on the packaging. Y.R. (c) AudioFile, Portland, Maine
