Concerned with the lack of support emerging for the Jewish State from the younger generation, particularly in the face of continuous attack, Harvard PhD., McGill University Professor and proud Zionist Gil Troy combines historical context with contemporary analysis in laying out one of the most compelling cases for Zionism today.

Gil Troy is Professor of History at McGill University in Montreal. A native of Queens, New York, and a graduate of Solomon Schechter Day School there, he received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in History from Harvard University. He was a member of Young Judaea, the largest Zionist Youth movement in America, for many years, and worked at Camp Tel Yehudah throughout the 1980s. Three of his other books concern American history: Morning in America, How Ronald Reagan Invented the 1980s; Mr. and Mrs. President: From the Trumans to the Clintons; and See How They Ran: The Changing Role of the Presidential Candidate. His latest book, Hillary Rodham Clinton: Polarizing First Lady, in the Modern First Ladies series, will be published this fall.
From 1997 to 1998 Gil Troy chaired McGill’s history department and in March, 1999 was promoted to full professor. Maclean's Magazine has repeatedly designated him as one of McGill's "Popular Profs," and the History News Network has called him one of America's "top young historians."
Troy writes regularly for the B'nai Brith Magazine, the Canadian Jewish News and The Jewish Week. He has also published articles recently in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Newsday, the New York Post, the Montreal Gazette, the National Post, Moment magazine, and the Jerusalem Post, among others. He has appeared as a commentator on most major Canadian and American television networks. Troy is also the chairman of the Montreal birthright israel committee.
Professor Gil Troy was a student of mine. His quest for Truth remains strong, as does his commitment to Torah. -- Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, 1986
Troy has written an inspiring Zionist manifesto for our time. This book simmers and crackles with wisdom, wit and passion. -- Rabbi Irving Greenberg, President, Jewish Life Network and author, "The Jewish Way"
