Now that we've sold ourselves to ourselves, shuffling letters and sounds around to hide the pain, how do we represent the uncanny valley in which we've set up shop? In Cursed Objects, Jason Christie recoils in horror at the thoroughness of his self, then begins to write toward a new understanding brokered between all the things that define him and who he thinks he should be and interrogates how we reduce people to words, especially online, turning them into objects.

Jason Christie is the author of Canada Post (Snare), i-ROBOT (Edge/Tesseract), Unknown Actor (Insomniac), and a co-editor of Shift & Switch: New Canadian Poetry (Mercury). He has published extensively in online and print journals, and has published over twenty chapbooks; five of his favourites are from above/ground press, including: The Charm (2015), random_lines = random.choice (2017), and glass language (2018).
"In these poems of wry discursive beauty and tipped structures, Christie explores objects and our relation to them. Wired to a wireless world, individuals, it seems, heed people and community less than we do our 'cursed' things. There is a fluidity in Christie’s Faustian bargains, a refreshment, and the gentle poems addressed in mid-book to his generation of poet friends affirm: we are not lost, just seeking." -- Erin Mouré
