From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-7–As a social-studies assignment, Alicia, Dan, and Jeff form the Money Cent$ Gang and embark on a journey into the world of consumerism, banks, credit cards, philanthropy, employment, and the stock market. Complex subjects are presented in short, easy-to-understand chapters. Thomas includes realistic examples of banking issues, quizzes, and suggestions on earning money and starting a business. Explanations are clear, concise, and age appropriate. Comic-strip scenes show the characters conversing through dialogue balloons about the various topics and provide specific examples (e.g., Jeff gets scammed when he answers an ad and doesn't receive the merchandise he thought was promised). The accessible layout and colorful cartoon artwork will grab readers' attention. Report writers and budding entrepreneurs will welcome this book. Even if you already own Gail Karlitz's Growing Money (Price Stern Sloan, 2001), you'll still want to add it.–Kathleen A. Nester, Downingtown High Ninth Grade Center, PA
