About the Author
Etta Kaner is an elementary school teacher and writer for both children and educators. Her children's books have won numerous awards, including the Silver Birch Award, the Scientific American Young Readers Book Award and the Science in Society Book Award. She lives in Toronto, Ontario.

? Who Likes the Wind? ? is particularly successful as a non-fiction book, using concrete examples from everyday life to elucidate some physical principles ? Adults will appreciate this excellent teaching tool, since it reminds them to value the curiosity and fascination children have for the world around them. At the same time, the book will equip care-givers with accurate, explicit explanations to answer kids’ many questions. They will doubtless learn a thing or two themselves in the process.
At first glace, this book in the Exploring the Elements series appears to be a traditional picture book in which a multi-cultural cast of children at the beach, in the country, and in the city tell why they like the wind and ask questions related to their experiences. But there’s a nice surprise: each right-hand page folds out to reveal the answers to the child’s question along with several spot illustrations that help demonstrate the wind’s impact ? Lafrance’s acrylic paintings offer attractive scenes of children at play as well as good visual explanations. A user-friendly introduction to the science behind everyday occurrences.
