Asimov is specific without being tedious; up-to-date (he mentions a joint United States-Soviet mission to Mars); and eager to point out the questions our space exploration programs have not, as yet, answered. Each volume briefly covers the history and the current state of our knowledge, speculates about the future, then concludes with a ``fact file,'' a list of books and addresses, a short glossary, and an index. The books are easy on the eyes, with spacious layout, comfortably large print, and pictures printed on matte rather than coated paper. A step above the ``New True Books'' (Childrens) in both quality and level of information, these are useful, attractive supplements to the many more general, but also more cursory, books in the astronomy section.
