This technical report describes how users of applications that support the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) standard can use the SAS ODBC driver to access local SAS data, remote SAS data (for sites that license SAS/SHARE software), or data from other database management systems (for sites that license any of the SAS/ACCESS interfaces). For end users and system administrators, the report provides complete information about defining the SAS data sources that they want to access. Applications programmers will find detailed information about how the SAS ODBC driver has been implemented, including the levels of support for the ODBC API and for SQL grammar, as well as data types that the driver supports. Portions of this technical report are available online with Release 6.11 and later releases.
