Reviews

The most recent edition of this title now includes information on new technologies, graphic novels, gaming, social networking, and other topics not covered before. Although the authors state that it is for both the school and public librarian, its true focus is the public library. The book includes practical suggestions, personal experiences, and best practices in chapters covering customer service, information literacy, collections, outreach, programming, and more. Each chapter ends with a concluding summary, sources cited, and further reading. Additional information is imparted in figures, an extensive glossary, and results of surveys and focus groups. The accompanying “CD-ROM Tool Kit” contains forms, lesson plans, programming ideas, etc., which are indicated by an icon in the text and listed on the inside front cover. This title is invaluable to any librarian who comes in contact with teen patrons. --Shelley Glantz
