Synopsis

Steelmaking gave Pittsburghers more than well-paid manufacturing jobs. It forged for them an identity. When the steel industry collapsed, Pittsburghers lost more than just jobs. “Memory of Steel,” written by one of the last of Pittsburgh’s steelworkers, takes readers inside a steel mill to a place that no longer is.
