Journey into Rest-isn't this a contradiction? Is it movement and stillness that brings us to God? Effort or repose?
It is both, saints have answered through the centuries. Christian growth is always a step-by-step journey, a walk of faith, not a jet flight dictated by a timetable. For every person the resting places along the way are different. A Bible passage, a favorite hymn, a habit of prayer, a tradition of worship a place where they find God's undergirding strength. Resting in Him even as one journeys through downpour and drought, freeze and thaw is the secret of travel that does not weary, movement that is fixed on Him.
With wonderful spiritual insight, bestselling author Elizabeth Sherrill joins the reader on this road. Stepping into the unknown with Abraham, running the other direction with Jonah, learning the value of a detour with Moses, traveling a rough way with Joseph, going through deep waters with Noah these are only a sample of the profound meditations in this book.
