About the Author

Jacques Mehler whose research on perceptual and cognitive development is internationally known, is director of the Laboratoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistiques and director of studies at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Editor of the journal Cognition, he has held visiting appointments at a number of universities in the US including most recently Rutgers and the University of Pennsylvania.

Emmanuel Dupoux joined France Telecom, and is at the research associate at the Laboatoire de Sciences Cognitives et Psycholinguistique.
