Synopsis
In this honest, contemporary collection of short stories about the American West, Pete Fromm writes of hunting and fishing, of long car trips through open landscape, of relationships between men and women who feel more than they know how to say.
In "Rabbits" we meet a young, abused boy who refuses his father's order to kill a rabbit; in "Bean Time" Fromm gives us an intimate look into both a wife's and cheating husband's thoughts about the ended affair; an elderly man who just lost his wife to a long illness contemplates suicide while duck hunting in "Jump Shooting"; and we share a first date between an agonizingly shy young man and a recently divorced newcomer to town in "The Date."
Fromm has a talent for bringing his characters to life - so much so that the reader feels like a fly on the wall, watching a real-life scenario. Whether his characters are driving across the country to an elopement, fishing away troubles on a grand lake, or partying it up during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, they are all battling emotions that are real and recognizable. About the Author
PETE FROMM is the author of six books, including Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award winners Dry Rain and Indian Creek Chronicles. Fromm has been widely pubished in both literary and outdoor journals.
