From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1-- A tidy, satisfying story. Henrietta, a white farm pony whose biggest thrill is pulling the farmer's milk wagon, enjoys stardom for a brief period. After the circus horse takes sick, she is recruited and hastily trained to perform in the ring with the graceful dancer Tamara on her back. Henrietta is introduced, volunteers her services, is shown what to do, delights the villagers, and goes home with happy memories. Torn-paper collages in a sophisticated color palette make this book distinctive. While the medium does not allow for details, basic shapes in rich, related colors form pleasing patterns and convey the characters' personalities. However, motion is stopped: the tiger jumping through a flaming hoop seems frozen in midair. Young readers may still be charmed by the circus theme and the gently optimistic story. --Nancy Seiner, The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh
