Roger Crawford--the only severely handicapped athlete ever to achieve professional status from the U.S. Professional Tennis Association--tells the inspiring story of his battle to overcome seemingly insurmountable physical obstacles

Roger Crawford tells of his triumph over astounding odds with grace, candor, and humor in this remarkable book. Although born with such severe physical deformatities that doctors believed he would never even be able to walk, Roger had the determination and heart to become a champion—in tennis and in life. He stands as an extraordinary esample for us all, encouraging us to reach our full potential.
"Playing from the Heart will go straight to your heart. . . . I highly recommend it."—Zig Ziglar
"You have forgotten whatever 'handicaps' others may have assigned to you and have concentrated on the God-given talents you so proudly display."—Ronald Reagan to Roger Crawford
Crawford is a member of the United States Professional Tennis Association who lacks hands, has only three fingers, is missing one leg, and had to have half the other leg amputated to accommodate walking and running prostheses. The story begins with his parents' shocked acceptance of their imperfect baby; continues with Roger's struggles to walk, to dress himself and accomplish various physical tasks, to gain social acceptance, to perfect his athletic talents; and culminates in his marriage and public speaking career. The book reads well and is hopeful, cheerful, and credible. An inspiring, courageous autobiography.
