Grade 6-9?This well-written and well-organized overview focuses not only on neurophysiology, but also on developments in medical technology. Beginning with a discussion of the anatomy of the brain, Barmeier then identifies the three main parts and describes their functions in detail. Related topics include memory; left brain/right brain research; dreams; disorders; and current medical testing and procedures, such as CAT, PET, and MRI. The text is detailed and clear, and covers the topic well without getting overly technical. The black-and-white diagrams are informative; the photos are merely decorative.?Christine A.
