Questions still arise over the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Did Oswald act alone? Or was Oswald part of a conspiracy to kill the controversial president? Did the Mafia kill the president in retaliation for Robert Kennedy's intense efforts to end organized crime?

About the Author:
Called one "of the best historians in the United States," David Pietrusza has produced a number of critically-acclaimed works concerning 20th century American history.

His book 1960: LBJ vs JFK vs Nixon: The Epic Campaign that Forged Three Presidencies was named by ForeWord Magazine as among the best political biographies.

Pietrusza's "1920: The Year of the Six Presidents" received a Kirkus starred review, was honored as a Kirkus "Best Books of 2007" title, and was named an alternate selection of the History Book Club. Historian Richard Norton Smith has listed "1920: The Year of the Six Presidents" as being among the best studies of presidential campaigns. "1920" reached #1 best-selling rank in three amazon.com non-fiction categories.

Pietrusza's biography of Arnold Rothstein entitled "Rothstein: The Life, Times & Murder of the Criminal Genius Who Fixed the 1919 World Series" was a finalist for the 2003 Edgar Award.

Pietrusza's "Judge and Jury, his biography of baseball's first commissioner, Kenesaw Mountain Landis," received the 1998 CASEY Award.

Pietrusza collaborated with baseball legend Ted Williams on an autobiography called "Ted Williams: My Life in Pictures."

Pietrusza is the Recipient of the 2011 Excellence in Arts & Letters Award of the Alumni Association of the University at Albany.
His study of 1948's dramatic Truman-Dewey-Wallace-Thurmond presidential campaign is scheduled for publication by Union Square Press.
From School Library Journal:

Gr 7 Up--In this updated look at the Kennedy assassination and the controversies that continue to surround it, Pietrusza begins by examining the fateful trip to Dallas and the details of the shooting, and then discusses Lee Harvey Oswald's strange life and the many weaknesses of the Warren Commission Report. The author also includes chapters on the major conspiracy theories that have been explored over the years, including Jim Garrison's investigation, the intelligence-agency theory, the Mafia theory, and the scenarios presented in the Oliver Stone film JFK. He concludes with a review of the new evidence presented in Gerald Posner's Case Closed (Random, 1993). Pietrusza is objective throughout, describing the strengths and weaknesses of both the popular theories and the official investigations. Although he includes background material, most readers will need at least some prior knowledge to understand the complex information he presents. Sidebars about various people and events and numerous black-and-white photos and illustrations add interest and details. The book is not as well-organized and well-written as Jeffrey Waggoner's The Assassination of President Kennedy (Greenhaven, 1989). However, it is more current and includes details and evidence that were not available in the earlier titles.
