From AudioFile:
Cornwell, who is best known for his Richard Sharpe series, begins a new series, which takes place during the War Between the States. Nathaniel Starbuck is the son of a well-known Boston abolitionist preacher. Starbuck finds himself stuck in Virginia in April 1861 and becomes a Rebel, but more out of rebellion against his father than out of belief in states' rights. Actor Hayward Morse displays his versatile vocal skills by giving almost every character a distinct voice. His depiction of the battle scenes brings out the horror, confusion and excitement of the dramatic narrative. His enthusiasm for this work is apparent, and he does well in bringing out its comic elements. This is a joy for those who enjoy adventure. M.T.F. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
