About the Authors

Redwood Kardon, who devised and wrote the first Code Check, is a former electrician and building inspector for the city of Oakland, CA. Coauthor Douglas Hansen is a general contractor and certified combination inspector with over 25 years of field experience. Skip Walker is a certified residential combination inspector, with a particular interest in smoke alarm performance issues and deck safety. The authors present seminars and classes nationwide on a wide variety of building topics. Paddy Morrissey, former senior illustrator of CornerHardware.com, has been the sole illustrator for the Code Check series since its inception.



Douglas Hansen lives in Palo Alto, CA.



Michael Casey was born in 1947 in Lowell, Massachusetts. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a military policeman in Vietnam. Among his books of poems are MILLRAT (Adastra Press, 1999), The Million Dollar Hole (Orchises, 2001), and Obscenities, which was chosen by Stanley Kunitz as the Yale Younger Poet Award for 1972 and reprinted by Carnegie Mellon University Press in 2002. His most recent book is CHECK POINTS (Adastra Press, 2011).

Paddy Morrissey was senior illustrator for CornerHardware.com. All three live in the San Francisco Bay area.
