Grade 7 Up-These books examine the lives of three people who were involved in the Nazi war on civilians during World War II. The Scholls were German siblings who helped to organize and lead the German resistance group called the White Rose. With other brave college friends, they secretly printed and disseminated a series of leaflets exposing the aims and evils of the Nazi government, resulting in their arrest, execution, and martyrdom. Wallenberg was a Swedish diplomat who managed to mobilize Swedish resources to salvage the lives of thousands of Hungarian Jews only to be arrested as a spy by the Soviet occupation forces and sent off to Siberia, never to be seen again. His plight and his story earned an international audience only after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1990.
