Users who would like a very easy-to-understand guide to Windows 95 might want to consider Douglas Hergert's How to Use Microsoft® Windows 95, 2nd Edition from ZD Press. Self-styled as "the full-color approach to problem solving," the book is oversized, amply illustrated, and full of numbered, step-by-step instructions on how to perform routine, "survivalist" type tasks in Windows 95. The book is aimed squarely at new users, and provides considerable hand holding in the "How-To" mode of instruction. Sample tasks include the basics, such as starting programs and using the Explorer, as well as some less basic topics on printing, using embedded objects, using Internet Explorer, searching, and some advanced customization options for the Windows 95 desktop. Each topic is nicely illustrated, and tasks are laid out in an unintimidating numbered sequence of steps that just about any beginning user should be able to follow. This title might be just the ticket for getting your Uncle George off the phone now that he's got a new machine and is surfing the net.
