Gr. 3^-5. Taking on a difficult and abstract concept, the authors of this look at time present brief text, colorful pictures, and simple projects on 14 time-related themes. Following a child's developmental patterns, the book begins with concrete and egocentric examples and progresses to more abstract and worldly concepts. One of the first projects asks children to make a time line of all the things they do in a typical day, with variations for older readers supplied. Later projects include constructing a variety of time devices--among them, a pocket sundial--and developing a time capsule for the future. Offering projects for both primary and middle-grade children, this attractive oversize book provides hands-on enrichment activities that will fit nicely into the elementary curriculum.
