About the Author

The NEBRASKA EDUCATION MEDIA ASSOCIATION (NEMA), an affiliate of the American Association of School Librarians and the Association of Education Communications Technology, has more than 300 members, most of whom are school library media specialists.

Written as a guide for Nebraska school library media programs, this information-packed book is an excellent resource for evaluating any school library media program. Updated and heavily based on the standards outlined in Information Power (ALA, 1998), it leads school library media specialists through the process of developing or evaluating a program. The first chapter, showing a comparison of North Central, Nebraska, and Information Power standards, outlines program standards and serves as a model for developing similar charts for each state and regional accreditation authority. Following chapters address: "Preparation of Media Personnel, Certification, and Continued Education" (with contact information for all states); "Learning & Teaching"; "Program Administration"; "Personnel and Evaluation"; "Resources and Equipment"; and "Facilities." Numerous checklists and forms help ease the evaluation process.
