About the Author
Tom Luyster is President of Standard Lean Manufacturing Systems, Inc. which is a consulting firm. Luyster was instrumental in establishing the benchmark plant used by the Toyota Supplier Support Center for their two day workshops instructing their suppliers in lean manufacturing concepts. He trained for six years under Hajime Ohba of the Toyota Supplier Support Center. During his position as senior vice president at Summit Polymers, he guided the company through its lean transition. He has achieved international recognition through his work in implementing successful lean programs in Asia, Europe, South America and the United States.
Don Tapping has worked for over twenty years to eliminate waste and improve bottom-line results in the telecommunications, medical, automotive, industrial, and aerospace industries. Tapping directed the lean implementation for Eaton Aerospace Division, UNISTRUT Corporation, Schlumberger Technologies, and Data Scan Services.
