Dr. Przemieniecki was born in Poland and earned his Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees from the University of London. In 1949, he started his career as a structural engineer in England working on the supersonic aircraft Concorde and a Mach 3 supersonic fighter aircraft. From 1961 to 1995, he held various positions with the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology as professor and associate dean for research,and as a member of the U.S. Senior Executive Service. President Reagan conferred on him the rank of Distinguished Executive, a rare honor accorded to only a few government executives. In 1999, he received an honorary doctorate from the Warsaw University of Technology. He is the author of several books, including one of the earliest textbooks on finite element analysis. An AIAA Fellow, he was the first Editor-in-Chief of the AIAA Education Series.
