The second trade paperback in the 100 BULLETS line, this book resumes the tale of the mysterious Agent Graves who offers ordinary wronged people the opportunity to kill with impunity using 100 bullets that he supplies them with. But even as Agent Graves continues to approach and manipulate his "clients," questions about the ghoulish agent start to arise as people from his past begin to appear, revealing interesting information about their former acquaintance. In the end though, these facts only lead to different questions as the mystery behind Agent Graves' motives deepens.

Brian Azzarello has been writing comics professionally since the mid-1990s. He is the author of Jonny Double, Batman: Broken City, and the Harvey and Eisner Award-winning 100 Bullets, all created in collaboration with artist Eduardo Risso. Azzarello’s other work for DC includes Hellblazer and Loveless with Marcelo Frusin; Dark Knight III: The Master Race with Frank Miller, Andy Kubert, and Klaus Janson; Superman: For Tomorrow with Jim Lee; Joker and Luthor with Lee Bermejo; Sgt. Rock: Between Hell and A Hard Place with Joe Kubert; Filthy Rich with Victor Santos; and most recently the all-new ongoing series Wonder Woman with Cliff Chiang.
A native of Leones, Argentina, Eduardo Risso began drawing professionally in 1981. Risso spent many years working in Argentina as well as Europe before breaking into American comics in 1997. He worked with writer Brian Azzarello on the 1998 Vertigo miniseries Jonny Double, which began a partnership that continues to this day. Risso and Azzarello’s work on Jonny Double led directly to their partnership on 100 Bullets. Since then the duo have joined forces on the DC graphic novel Batman: Broken City, Batman: Knight Of Vengeance, and the Vertigo limited series Spaceman. Risso's work on 100 Bullets has earned him four Eisner Awards, two Harvey Awards, and the Yellow Kid Award. Currently, Risso is back on a hunt for vengeance with Azzarello on the Vertigo limited series 100 Bullets: Brother Lono.
In the world of 100 Bullets, moral ambiguity comes packed in an attach‚ case with a gun, one hundred untraceable bullets and positive identification of the person responsible for ruining your life. Gimmicky, perhaps, but not necessarily a bad premise for the high melodrama of noir. However, in this instance it quickly runs out of gas, undercut by clich‚d characterizations and absurd plot contrivances. Dizzy Cordova is a young, recently paroled ex-gangbanger whose husband and baby have been killed in a drive-by. Lee Dolan is a drunken bartender whose family and career fell apart after he was framed for peddling child porn. Both are offered a chance at revenge by a pair of mysterious agents whose motivations are as obscure as their origins. Riffing off ghetto stereotypes and corny street slang instead of a convincing plot, Azzarello's story lines offer up half-processed notions of greed and betrayal, with a little violence and tawdriness thrown in for good measure. To be fair, this volume collects just the first five issues of an ongoing and complex narrative series. But the book's real pleasures can be found in the drawings of artist Eduardo Risso, whose shadow-filled, stylized renderings of urban anomie manage to convey unexpected nuances of emotion. Risso's drawings, coupled with the subtle, muted palette of colorist Grant Goleash, give the work an engaging visual moodiness that the clunky narrative is unable to match.
