About the Author

Author of the award-winning non-fiction picture book, Think of an Eel. Karen was born in Canada and grew up in a log cabin in Quebec. Many of her natural history books are for children, like Imagine you are a Tiger, and I am a Tyrannosaurus Rex whilst she also writes teenage fiction such as The Unrivalled Spangles. Mick Manning is author-illustrator of numerous books for children, including many in collaboration with his wife, artist Brita Granstrom.

Review

"Full of facts and surprises... a distinguished array of artists and authors, and a (narrative) approach more serendipitous than encyclopaedic. Each book has an entirely original slant on its subject." The Guardian "The best information books are so interesting that they make you want to find out more. The Read and Wonder books do just that." Margaret Meek, Emeritus Reader, Institute of Education, University of London
