About the Author

Pauline Cockrill is the internationally recognized expert on the history of the teddy bear. She specialized in the field while curator at the National Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, and is a regular contributor to Teddy Bear Times. Both DK's The Ultimate Teddy Bear Book (1991) and The Teddy Bear Encyclopedia (1993) are considered the bibles of arctophily (bear collecting), and are used by collectors, dealers, and toy shops worldwide. Paulines now lives in Alice Springs, Central Australia, where she runs a teddy bear hospital, probably one of the most isolated of its kind in the world.
