When The End of Print was published in 1995, it set a nervous little shiver through the graphic design world. Although most pooh-poohed the books dire theories, it nevertheless made many designers feel a tad defensive. Almost instantly, design conferences were hosting in-your-face, packed-to-the-gills sessions about why print was not ending. Discussions on printed graphics - using paper in more cost-effective, time-efficient, environmentally conscious, design - expanding ways that incidentally produced far fewer paper cuts - sprung up everywhere, in trade pubs, on-line, and in classrooms.
