The friendly, unassuming reading by the author makes this a sensible guide (LJ 11/15/97) to finding a sustaining real love with a suitable individual. O'Neal offers sound guidance organized around six principles. While the concepts are not groundbreaking, they are based on competent research and the author's successful experience as the operator of a dating service. O'Neal approaches crucial compatibility issues and warnings about fatal flaws that can doom a relationship in a tolerant, nonjudgmental tone. There is appropriate emphasis on a candid discussion of sexual issues, and the differing needs and preferences of men and women are frankly, but delicately, handled.
