Woodburning Project & Pattern Treasury focuses on the drawing, lettering, and design elements that add life to any pyrography project. Patterns are designed to be mixed and matched so you can create original woodburning compositions, whether you are building designs from individual elements or working from complete patterns.
From the simple beauty of a single oak leaf to an elaborate portrait of nature, the patterns of woodburning artist Deborah Pompano reflect her distinctive artistic style.
Inside this, her first book, Pompano shares techniques for getting started in woodburning. You'll learn what 5 tips she recommends, how to control line weight, contrast, and depth with different woodburner tips, and how to develop your drawing skills for use in pyrography.
At the heart of this book is a treasure trove of patterns. You will find individual elements, border patterns, and central images which can be mixed and matched to create personal works of art. You can also work from the author's complete composition patterns, which weave poems and verse with imagery from the natural world to create inspirational woodburnings.
The patterns are organized into two main sections: individual design elements and complete composition patterns.
Full designs are provided at both beginner-to-intermediate and advanced skill levels. These compositions combine imagery, borders, lettering, and layout into finished woodburning designs, with subjects that include animals, nature scenes, decorative themes, and narrative pieces such as tea time, sewing, gardening, wildlife portraits, clipper ships, and more.
The book also includes two practice exercises, one step-by-step project, and close up instruction on lettering.
Drawing on nature and poetry for her own inspiration, Pompano makes woodburning easy to learn, fun, and rewarding. You'll be amazed by how rapidly your abilities grow and improve with just a small investment of time, patience, and practice.
Mix-and-match patterns, get drawing advice, and start designing your own woodburnings with Woodburning Project & Pattern Treasury!
