About the Author

Diane Waller (Balkans) is Emeritus Professor of Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths, University of London. Shelagh Weir (Palestine) is a former curator of Middle Eastern Ethnography at the British Museum. Sheila Paine (Afghanistan, India and Pakistan) has spent more than 50 years travelling the globe and is a world expert on tribal societies and their textiles. Gina Corrigan (China) is a leader of tours and textile study groups to China, and researches and collects Miao textiles. Ann Hecht (Guatemala) is a designer specializing in weaving, spinning and dyeing. She spent three years researching the British Museum s collection of Guatemalan textiles. Chloë Sayer (Mexico and Indonesia) lectures at museums and art colleges and has made collections, organized exhibitions and worked on television documentaries about Mexican textiles. Chris Spring and Julie Hudson (Silk in Africa) are curators of the African collections at the British Museum. John Gillow is an independent traveller, writer, lecturer and collector of textiles. He has contributed to a numerous museum collections and written several books.
