Synopsis
Addresses the present state and problems of fluorine calorimetry. Part I is devoted to problems that dominated the development of fluorine bomb calorimetry, including purification and analysis of fluorine, methods for combustion of different substances, construction of calorimetric bombs, peripheral apparatus for the safe manipulation of fluorides, and experimental results. Part II discusses individual results of measurements of enthalpies of combustion of different substance in fluorine and other fluorine-containing oxidants. Originally published in Russian in 1978, by Nauka. This second edition is revised and contains much new material on results obtained over the past two decades. Leonidov is affiliated with Glushko Thermocenter, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia. O'Hare is formerly of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, US. Annotation c.
