Grade 3-5-Brief overview of three rather obscure species. The texts are clear and well written, and the full-color photographs are of good to excellent quality. Habitats, physical features, and behavior patterns are discussed in enough detail to be useful for reports. In addition, the attractive format and rather exotic subjects will attract readers. Fans of Bill Peet's Capyboppy (Houghton, 1985) will enjoy finding out more about this amusing looking rodent. Echidna is a useful introduction to this spiny egg-laying mammal. Nudibranch gives a dazzling look at these colorful, surreal looking creatures commonly called sea slugs. The Sea Slug (Albert Whitman, 1994) by Patricia Kite offers much of the same information and bright photography.
