The Bookman MWS-840 Talking Dictionary and Thesaurus is a voice output dictionary designed to enhance language skills and teach the use of augmentative communication for individuals with a developmental or speech disability. The compact QWERTY style keyboard with selectable large type LCD screen display, produces single word voice output for words contained in its 83,000 word dictionary. The speech quality is robotic and it does not produce text-to-speech for "non-dictionary words", nor does it have word prediction capabilities. Basically it is a low cost introduction to keyboard-produced voice output for language learning or augmentative communication. Voice feedback provides motivation for spelling and reading skills development. There are three built in word games to add to the fun of learning.
