About the Author:
Lillian C. Freudmann currently teaches Bible courses in an adult program associated with the University of Connecticut School of Continuing Education.
From Library Journal:
Virtually everyone recognizes the name Bible, but surprisingly few people know very much about this famous but complex book. Drawing on her teaching experience, Freudmann has written a basic, lucid exposition of the origins, organization, and context of the Hebrew Bible (Tanach). The work is structured according to the Bible's major sections: Torah, Prophets, and Writings. Freudmann groups the books in the Writings section into topics (historical, wisdom literature), thus adding cohesion to the explanations. Each chapter contains a summary of the book, further clarified by outlines and tables. The inclusion of key verses enhances appreciation of the biblical text. The book also contains maps, chronological charts, a glossary, and current names of ancient places, which are extremely helpful. Highly recommended as a text for lay readers, adults, and teens, for both individual and group study.?Carol R. Glatt, VA Medical Center Lib., Philadelphia
