About the Author
Darice Bailer grew up in Rochester, New York with seven siblings and dreamed of becoming a writer. Today, she has written over 3 books for children. Her first book for Soundprints, Puffin's Homecoming: The Story of an Atlantic Puffin, received a 1993 Parent's Choice Award. Also a journalist for many years, she was a frequent contributor to The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Hartford Courant. She currently helps students and teachers at Old Greenwich School in Connecticut.

Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Shaw, Charlie (illustrator). Very Good, graded in hand. A Soundprints paperback with a glossy printed cover as issued - no dust jacket was ever part of this edition. A previous owner's name, that of an adult, is written in pen across the top of the FRONT cover and has been left in place; it is not reproduced here, and it is plainly visible in the cover photograph. The covers show moderate wear with creasing and edge wear consistent with use. A teal decorative tape or sticker is partly visible at the lower left of the front cover and again at the lower right of the back cover, and a barcode sticker sits on the back cover. The binding is intact. Interior pages are clean and fully readable, with no writing, highlighting, or staining found in the pages examined, and no significant staining anywhere. The glare on the glossy cover in the photographs is camera flash, not damage. No library stamps, call-number spine labels, card pockets, date-due slips, or DISCARD markings.
