Sue Kassirer was born and raised in the Buffalo, New York area. Formerly an editor for a major children's book publisher, she currently works as a freelance editor and author. She particularly enjoyed writing about Emma and her whaling adventures, since it resulted in her re-discovery of the classic novel, Moby Dick. While graduating from SUNY Purchase, she also attended Bard College. Sue presently lives in New York City with her husband, Tom, and daughter, Laura.
