Synopsis
Inspector Max Romero investigates the death of a Muslim girl in Granada, Spain. The prime suspect may have terrorist links, but insensitive handling of the case leads to his suicide. As a result, Max is co-opted into a dangerous antiterrorist operation.
P.J. Brooke is the amalgam of a husband and wife writing team, Philip O’Brien and Jane Brooke. They live part of the year in Scotland and part of the year in the old Moorish district of Granada. Blood Wedding is the first novel in a planned series set in Granada and Latin America featuring Inspector Max Romero.

About the Author
P. J. Brooke is the husband and wife writing team of Philip O'Brien and Jane Brooke. They divide their time between Scotland and the old Moorish district of Granada. Blood Wedding is the first novel in the Inspector Max Romero series.

Sub-Insp. Max Romero, a liaison to the Muslim community, is the man in the middle as the impact of the death of pretty young graduate student Leila Mahfouz, in the Spanish village of Diva near Grenada, ripples outward. Mahfouz's demise sparks both a murder investigation and a politically motivated inquiry into the European Training Centre for young Muslim entrepreneurs. A stain of corruption reaching back to the 1936 death of poet Federico García Lorca provides a haunting counterpoint to the current crime. Romero, besides assisting the local police investigation, must also deal with pressure from a powerful antiterrorist group. The many plot threads of this thought-provoking mystery can be hard to follow, but readers who persevere will feel well rewarded. (Dec.)
