Pathways in Scripture provides an inspirational, liturgically-based introduction to books of the Bible. Rooted in the tradition of the Fathers of the Church, each chapter reveals the spiritual sense hidden behind the literal meaning of the text and points readers toward a life application.
Damasus Winzen was a renowned leader of the liturgical movement that preceded Vatican Council II. In 1951, he founded the Monastery of Mount Savior near Elmira, New York. He devoted himself to building that Benedictine community, giving conferences, teaching, and otherwise serving the broad interests of the Church. He wrote Pathways in Scripture in the late 1940s when he was chaplain to the Benedictine sisters of Regina Laudis Monastery in Connecticut. Fr. Damasus died in 1971.
