Here, the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John have been changed into black vernacular. A quote from Matthew is a good example of the translation process: "Jesus was born in a little town called Bethlehem 'round the time this dude named Herod was king. Three wise brothers heard 'bout the little brother's birth, too, 'cuz it had been said a really righteous King of the Jews would be born.
