Synopsis
Lying in a foxhole, scared out of my wits, I had just seen a human leg pass overhead with the shoe still on the foot! The Naval bombardment continued as a battleship, four heavy cruisers, five destroyers pummeled the perimeter for four straight hours, occasionally stopping but only to start up again for a few hours. This continued for nearly five months. To give you some idea of this firepower, a battleship fires a shell weighing close to two tons and can easily plant a ten-foot hole in the ground as well as clean off an entire city block in a flash.

Before the start of the Second World War he had become a charter boat captain and an airline pilot and had worked in Alaska. He joined the marines and with his nautical and aviation background he was used as a ground combat soldier at Guadalcanal. Very good in very good dust jacket. Signed by author. Signed on fep.
