From the moment of His Avataric birth (in New York, on November 3, 1939), Adi Da Samraj was consciously aware of His native Divine Condition: the Condition of everyone and everything. As soon as He became able to use language, He gave this Condition a simple but very descriptive Name- the "Bright". At two years of age, Adi Da Samraj spontaneously decided to relinquish His constant enjoyment of the "Bright" out of what He describes as a "painful loving", a sympathy for the suffering and ignorance of human beings. Avatar Adi Da confesses that He chose to "Learn Man"- to pass through all of the "ordinary" human limitations and presumptions that people suffer, and also to pass through the entire spectrum of "extraordinary" spiritual phenomena that people can seek and attain- in order to discover how to draw human beings into the "Bright" Divine Condition that He knew as His own True State and the True State of everyone.

In His spiritual autobiography, The Knee Of Listening, Avatar Adi Da recounts this amazing and heroic ordeal of submitting utterly to every aspect and stage of human experience: both high and low in the spectrum of human possibility. In 1970, at 30 years of age, Avatar Adi Da finally Re-Awakened permanently to the "Bright", and embarked upon the second great purpose of His Incarnation- the process of "Teaching Man".

In the 30 years since He began teaching Avatar Adi Da Samraj has communicated a vast store of Wisdom. He has published well over 60 books and given thousands of discourses on every subject that impinges on human and spiritual understanding: from the most ordinary and mundane to the most sacred and esoteric. Adi Da's unique Wisdom-Teaching has inspired the formation of schools, clinics, artisans guilds, and retreat sanctuaries, as well as an international network of communities devoted to the spiritual practice that He has outlined.

Ruchira-Guru-Bhava, or, the Love-"Intoxication" of True Devotion To Me

If there is not the quality of heartfelt devotion to Me, the Self-Existing and Self-Radiant Divine Person, the Non-Separate Self of All and all, then intelligent understanding of My Teaching, and commitment to the by Me Given disciplines, and even the doing of compassionate service of every kind cannot cleanse and relieve the heart of its urges toward fulfillment in the phenomenal realms, high or low.

How can I be loved if the heart does not recognize Me? How can I be loved if the entire body-mind does not respond to Me? How can I be loved if the hair does not stand on end when there is Contemplation of Me? How can I be loved if the heart does not melt in My Presence? How can I be loved if tears of joy do not pass freely from the eyes when I am Standing There?

If I am loved, then the entire body-mind of My devotee is Filled by My Love-Bliss. If My devotee is Filled by Me through Love-Communion, the voice often falters and chokes with the emotion of love. Because My true devotee always dwells in Contemplation of Me at the heart, there is often joyous weeping, and sudden laughing, for no reason but the Fullness of Me. My true devotee freely sings aloud of Me. My true devotee always speaks of Me, to one and all, and often dances with casual joy, in the unending always of Remembering Me. Even all the movements of My true devotee are a dance of joy in love of Me.

Gold can be made pure and bright only through submission to fire. Just so, the heart of My true devotee is purified and Liberated from its dark urges only by submission to self-transcending Love-Communion with Me. Only Thus, by submission to the Ever-Lighted Fire of My Grace, Is My true devotee Made "Bright", Awakened to Indivisible and Indestructible Unity with Me.

By Attracting all beings to My Only Once Incarnate Form, and, Thereby, to My Divine Spiritual Body, and, Thereby, to My Divine Eternal Person, I, Now, and Forever Hereafter, Serve the purification and the "Bright" Awakening of the entire world.
