Kindergarten-Grade 2?Based on the idea that readers have arrived at the airport in preparation for a flight, this title presents a very simplified introduction to the topic. Several pages are devoted to the history of flight and early pioneers in the field. About 10 pages explain how propellers and jet engines help airplanes and helicopters to fly. No mention is made of how the shape of the wing is involved. The text of three to six sentences per page is set in large primary type. Vocabulary is appropriate for the intended audience; pronunciation is included, but on an inconsistent basis. Help is given for such words as cabin and cargo, but not for theater, instruments, and attendant. Pen-and-ink and watercolor illustrations add interest. For collections looking for "books about airplanes" for their youngest patrons, this one is adequate.?Eldon Younce, Harper Elementary School, KS
