With her usual spirit of adventure, attention to detail, and refusal to accept conventional thoughts, Katharine Parsons set out to do what seemed impossible for a young woman living in 1930s Manhattan. A 1936 visit to her doctor presented a life-changing opportunity when he mentioned knowing of 640 acres of New Brunswick woods for sale, with a mile and a quarter of prime Atlantic salmon river running right through it. Just one year later, on June 19, 1937, Katharine first laid eyes on her newly constructed fishing camp. Never operated as a club or commercial venture, Boland Brook Camp has remained a small family fishing camp. In 1993 Katharine passed away, and the camp was turned over to her nephew, Livingston Parsons, Jr. who shares its fascinating history here. The story behind the Boland Brook Camp is unique; and it's one that every salmon fisher will enjoy.

"The classic, rustic Canadian salmon camp has always been an enchanted place, touched only incidentally by the hue-and-cry of the modern, mechanized world. The very model for that kind of camp is Boland Brook, that fabulous square mile of New Brunswick bisected by one of the continent's great salmon rivers, the Upsalquitch. In this book, Salmon Camp, Livy Parsons brings you into this realm with its eccentric assortment of characters, tumbling rapids and towering pines and leaping, silver salmon."
