Although it is potentially one of the most problematic of human emotions, anger is a necessary part of life and an effective early indicator of problems. What makes anger tricky is a whole spectrum of inappropriate responses, ranging from avoidance to rageaholicism. Learning how to screen anger invitations--separating what is merely annoying from what is really serious and adjusting your reactions accordingly--is something that comes easily to some people, but requires practice for others. This book begins by making important distinctions between healthy anger and problem anger, providing a quiz that will help you identify your own personal style of response. Grouping ten styles into three main groups (masked anger, explosive anger, and chronic anger), the authors provide useful guidelines to help you recognize your unhealthy anger response and practical exercises to help you overcomeit.
