This manual is a complete guidebook for helping both parents learn to live with the changes visitation brings to their lives after a divorce and offers a unique perspective with its back-to-back format.

One half of the book is written especially for the custodial parent and talks about how to deal with problems of a child having two parents in two homes with two sets of rules. The other half of the book addresses the non-custodial parent and deals with what to do during visitation, long-distance visitation, communicating with the other parent, coping with scheduling and helping the child adjust.

The book contains appendices with various resources, including parenting organizations, publication resources, related websites and sample visitation plans schedules.

From the Author:
After representing children in family court it became clear to me that families are not given enough guidance about how to manage a life with visitation after divorce or separation. This book is designed to be your hands-on practical guide for coping with visitation. The book contains two books in one - one for custodial parents and one for non-custodial parents. Filled with practical tips, to the point advice and information for coping with real life situations, this book is designed to be your guide to making your visitation plan work, helping your child cope, communicating with the other parent and enjoying a life that involves visitation.

The book contains two resource lists - one for US parents and one for Canadian parents - that will help you find support and specialized information.

When I practiced law, I saw many families returning to court again and again with visitation problems. This book is designed to help you avoid the pitfalls, disputes and problems that can arise when living with visitation. There are so many things you can do to make your situation manageable and workable. Constant disputes about visitation take a toll on your child and on you. Learn to navigate around them.
