Reviews

Gr 7 Up--This chronological record opens in 1760, when King George III inherited the British throne, and ends with George Washington's death in 1799. All entries begin with a date and summary statement and range in length from a few lines to more than a page. While most entries supply enough information to answer a specific question or provide clues for further research, some of the descriptions of more important events also give historical and biographical background. Although political topics are covered, the majority of entries describe military action and include the names of commanders and casualty counts. Four appendixes provide extensive cross-referencing, allowing users to search by individuals, military actions, events in each colony and territory, and dates by month. An additional resource.
