Synopsis
The biography of a Union officer during the Civil War. As a subordinate to General Ambrose Burnside, Cutts was court-martialed for dueling and looking at a woman undressing. Given only a reprimand by President Lincoln, he was later awarded a triple Medal of Honor for actions with the 11th U.S. Infantry Regiment. This biography focuses solely on his military career. About the Author
Bing G. Spitler has been a student of American history for most of his life. In 1992, he developed a passion for learning more about James Madison Cutts, Jr., as a result of reading a short passage in Carl Sandburg s Abraham Lincoln. Spitler is a graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor of science degree in philosophy and Pennsylvania State University where he earned a master s of education degree.
