About the Author:
After a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, which included a short tour in the White House, Colonel Walbrook D. Swank has devoted much time to writing about the Civil War. He is a member of the Society of Civil War Historians and the Military Order of the Stars and Bars from which he received its Distinguished Service Award. In recognition of his contributions to the preservation and promotion of our Southern heritage and history, the United Daughters of the Confederacy has awarded him the coveted Jefferson Davis Medal.
Robert Cave was a member of the 13th Virginia Infantry serving under General “Stonewall” Jackson during the North-South conflict. Following the war he entered the ministry of the Christian church and became a prominent and popular clergyman, orator, and writer in St. Louis, Missouri.
